SARD UI update - 30/04/2025
A New Look for SARD: Cleaner, Simpler, and Easier to Use
As of 30th April, we’ve introduced a refreshed user interface for SARD, designed with clarity and usability in mind. One of the key improvements is enhanced readability — thanks to a new font and a more refined use of colour across the site. By reducing visual distractions and simplifying the layout, navigation is now more intuitive, allowing you to get things done with greater ease.
These updates are purely visual, with all existing functionality remaining unchanged. We believe this redesign strikes a better balance between function and form, creating a more pleasant and efficient experience for all users.
Consistency Across Systems
While each SARD system previously shared a similar layout, differences in structure often made switching between platforms confusing and time-consuming. To address this, we’ve introduced a consistent design and navigation across all systems. This unified layout is designed to be intuitive and familiar, helping you move more efficiently between tasks.
These updates apply to SARD systems including Medical Revalidation, Job Plans, MSF/360, and eLeave. Please note they do not yet apply to eRostering or Foundry — these will be updated at a later stage.
Prioritising Accessibility
We understand the importance of making our systems accessible to everyone. As part of this update, we’re introducing features to better support users who are colourblind or rely on screen readers. These improvements aim to ensure that every NHS staff member can confidently and effectively use our platforms.
Continuous Improvement Through Feedback
Your experience is at the heart of everything we do. When we notice an increase in support queries about a particular issue, our tech team prioritises resolving it and improving usability. This feedback-driven approach helps ensure the system evolves in line with your needs. Whether your queries come via chat or email, we’re actively monitoring for trends to guide further enhancements.
A Commitment to Ongoing Progress
We know there’s always room to grow. While these updates mark a significant step forward, we remain dedicated to further refinement. By continuing to listen to your feedback and following user experience best practices, we’re working to make every interaction with SARD systems even smoother.
What Does This Mean for You?
Our number one goal is to deliver a consistent and accessible user experience across all systems. Whether you’re managing appraisals, creating job plans, or scheduling shifts, we hope these changes make your daily tasks simpler and more streamlined.
We also understand that many administrators invest time in creating custom training materials. With these updates rolling out, it may be best to pause on producing new guides until the changes are fully in place. This will help ensure your resources stay accurate and save you from having to revise them shortly after publishing. We’ll continue to provide timelines and guidance to support your training efforts.
Stay tuned for more updates as we work to deliver systems that work better for you.
