How many MSFs do I need to do in one Medical Revalidation cycle?
Multi-Source Feedback or 360 Degree (MSF/360) exercise should be undertaken at least once per medical revalidation 5-year cycle. MSF, once completed, should also form part of the discussion at your ongoing annual Appraisal. Generally, an MSF is deemed complete when all three components were undertaken: Self Assessment, Colleague Feedback and Patient Feedback.
Some organisations recommend to complete an MSF in the first year to ensure that enough responses are achieved in good time. Other organisations prefer to have an MSF done in the third or fourth year of the revalidation cycle, to maintain regularity in the responses.
Please check if your organisation has existing guidance on the preferred time to complete an MSF, either through your organisation's administrator or under Supporting Documents, both of which can be found under System Support on your Dashboard.
The specific time of completing an MSF is not mandatory as it is mere organisation’s recommendation. Apart from referring to local guidance (if any), please see the CPD, QIA and Feedback (or MSF Appraisal) section of your current Portfolio for more information.
Some users can be set as 'Exempt from Patient Feedback' if gathering such responses is particularly difficult or impossible, depending on their role/specialty. Should it be the case, please contact your organisation's administrator.
