ADMINISTRATOR: Setting Custom Content
This article would only be applicable to users with an Administrator system role on their account, as this feature would not be accessible for non-administrator users.
There are a number of spaces within SARD where you can set custom text or add additional guidance specific to your organisation. In some places there is default text, which we refer to as default content.
This default content cannot be deleted but you can override it. In some places there is no default content, but you can add new content to be viewed by your users.
Each body of text that you can change has a slug associated with it (this would be a technical term that defines where the text appears on the site). If you set a body of text for a slug this is called a 'Content Override'.
With Administrator access (defined as someone with the role ‘Administrator’), you are able to view and edit custom text across the site. To be able to see what spaces are available for custom text, you should go to the Administrator page to the top right of your SARD screen, select the dropdown for Miscellaneous and the Content Overrides page. Select View Slugs as shown below:
This will take you to a demonstration website where spaces for custom text are indicated in red font. You can move through this demo site to see the options on different pages as they would appear to the user.
Where the red content slugs have a start and end (for example in the Instructions section of the appraisal appraisal_section_2_content) this indicates that any text between the start and end can be customised. The text shown between the start and end here is our default text that will show if no content override is set
Where the red content slugs do not have the start and end (for example in the dashboard_SARD_top_content) this indicates there is a space for text in addition to our default text for the section, which cannot be overridden, that will show above our default text.
Content overrides can be styled so that the text appears in bold, red font or with bullet points. You can also add ‘mailto’ links, links to support documents and other website addresses. If you’d like any assistance with this, please get in touch.
From the Content overrides page on your own SARD site, you can make these changes to your site yourself, by selecting the pencil icon to edit an existing content, or the New Content Override button where this does not yet exist. Alternatively, if this is provided in a word document or similar, we can make these changes for you if you contact the SARD Support team.
