ADMINISTRATOR: Adding Hyperlinks for External Sites
This article would only be applicable to users with an Administrator system role on their account, as this feature would not be accessible for non-administrator users.
Administrator users may wish to also read this article relating to Hyperlinks to Support Docs, for further information.
SARD allows you to add and edit guidance text across several areas of the site, including the Appraisal & Portfolio, which is helpful if you wish to add notes about certain Organisation-related policies and processes.
Along with any guidance notes and instructional text, you can also add web hyperlinks to any external websites that your users may need to use, such as Declaration of Interest sites, or other sites that provide administrative tools.
To add Hyperlinks, you will need to use some basic internet coding, or hypertext markup language (HTML).
For example - let's say you wish to add some guidance text in a portfolio section asking your users to review the Medical Appraisal Guide information on the NHS' website.
You could include a note to say something like: "Please ensure you've read the guidance text found on the NHS website by visiting the page here" with a hyperlink to the page in question stored within the word "here".
So for the example we're using, it would look like this:
Once saved, the text will appear to your users like this:
Please ensure you've read the guidance text found on the NHS website by visiting the page here.
Another way to phrase this link would be to put the text "Please ensure you've read the NHS MAG form guidance by visiting the NHS Website", and using the above HTML you can then just change the linking words like so:
Hooray, you've done some coding! You've also made your SARD site easier for your end users to use.
If you're unsure or get stuck at all, please let the Customer Support team know at support@sardjv.co.uk and we'll be happy to take a look for you.
